Throughout the year e-portfolio has let me track my progress as a writer. In the past I would never take time to reflect on my writings. I would receive a paper back from my teachers that was marked up and was supposed to understand and know why I did everything wrong. Firstly I am not a confident writer so receiving a marked up paper in red ink really shattered and confidence that was left about my writing. It would take constant picking at my writings before I was even happy with what I had turned in. Secondly, there was no one to explain how to correct my mistakes let alone, I had no idea that essentially the majority of the  mistakes I was making I was continuing to make them. When I had to start my career as a collegiate student, I was terrified of writing. I came into univ150 nervous but this wasn’t like any other writing class or English class. Univ150 gave me a tool, the e-portfolio and editing skills checklist. I can’t even put into words how helpful the editing skills checklist was to me. As an insecure writer this was the best way to not only boost my confidence but also help me understand and fix my writings. The columns in the editing skills checklist allow for me to note my weaknesses but also my strengths from the essays i have written. Also the brief descriptions at the end from the instructor is very helpful. Using this I already see a change in my writings. They have greatly improved and I am starting to get my confidence back. Having a tool like this back in high school would have been great. I truly believe that if I had a tool like this back in high school that maybe I would not need to be in univ150.
