At Old Dominion University they offer a multitude of different majors and studies to be apart of. In the cyber security dept. there is many options to branch out and become acquainted with, such as a minor. For the four related studies to cyber security I am choosing Computer Science and Business Administration, Cyber Operations, Computer Engineering, and lastly Cyber-Crime. I chose Computer science as without that field, there would be no cyber anything to apply security to. Cybersecurity relies on the sciences and coding behind what it’s protecting. Without the sciences, cyber would not exist. Next, I chose Cyber operations, as this field is the one that keeps us safe from all sorts of militarized cyber-attacks. We rely on these individuals to keep our browsers and networks safe from any sort of foreign cyber attacks as they become increasingly more popular in the ever-growing technological world. The other major I chose was Computer Engineering because this deals with a lot of the hardware and software that is needed to keep computers up to date and working correctly. Without engineering, we would really have no devices to protect. Lastly, I chose to pick Cyber Crime as that is what the major of Cyber Security works so hard to try and prevent. Understanding Cybercrime is essential to the fight against it as it takes time to understand motives and how and why attacks are happening.
