Within cyber-security, there are 4 major ethical priorities such as privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies. These 4 ethical issues need to be taken into consideration when in this field as violating these are in direct conflict with all companies. Privacy is considered to be the right to be let alone, and confidentiality is the right to withhold information from others for personal reasons. These ethical rights go hand in hand as together they allow the user to remain to keep valuable information safe as they choose what and where the information is used for. Only they can disclose confidential and private information, and often times this information is stored in some digital “safe” that is protected with security. In all of these, the information being protected could be anything from health, to banking and financial information, to personal information like social security and addresses. Security breaches are a threat to all privacy as that indicates that the security system withholding this information is no longer working as intended. This can give access to sensitive information by unauthorized users without consent. System breaches can be devastating to a company and its users as they hold hundreds and even thousands of individual’s information. System Implementation is crucial to the smooth transitions of user and computer interfaces. Poorly innovated or implemented interfaces can cause issues such as decreased time efficiency, poor quality care, and pose an increased threat to patient safety and security. Data inaccuracies often cause integrity issues, and can further lead to errors in documentation. These errors are unreliable and skew representation incorrectly causing even more issues. These ethical rights go hand in hand as together they allow the user to remain to keep valuable information safe as they choose what and where the information is used for.
