Cyber security has created opportunities for workplace defiance because it is possible to be anonymous online. If someone has control of a large mainframe of networks, they can do a lot and use that information for many malicious reasons. Especially if someone is high up in a government program or a large business and has access to many confidential and important documents, they could easily defy the owners of the data and information without being caught. This has been shown many times by whistleblowers. Often someone will get fired or laid off and have a revenge plan to expose the company of all their hidden secrets and documents. Information and data can also be used and sold for a lot of money so people who have access to these things really have no risk selling information or data to a third party for a large sum of cash. This can cause a lot of issues. That is why it is necessary to find loyal workers who will not expose, sell, or steal information for themselves. Although any loyal worker could turn evil after a while of being played with by a company or even laid off. Companies must be very careful with who they grant access to regarding their confidential documents. Whistleblowing has been a big issue, whether it is good or bad, it is still an issue. There will always be rats in the world so we must create a way to prevent workplace defiance or be able to track down who is up to no good. A way to counter this would have strict policies in place so confidential information is only available to the highest members of a company or organization. Often these whistleblowers will receive fines and prison time if caught. There needs to be laws and policies in place to counter workplace defiance.
