Compare & Contrast cybersecurity risks in the US and one other country of your choosing.
When it comes to cybersecurity risks, there are certain countries that deal with higher risks than others. These can include denial of service attacks, malware infections, ransomware attacks, or cyber espionage. For this comparison, we can look at two different countries that have significant dealings with several of the cybersecurity risks. When looking at the data for the highest and lowest percentages for malware infection rates, the United States is not among these figures. This shows that we have effective safeguards protecting us from these forms of attacks. In contrast, we have China which has one of the highest rates of infection. According to Naveen Goud, an author on Cybersecurity Insiders, China has a rate of 49 percent which is an astonishing amount. When looking at the percentages for denial of service attacks origins, the United States and China share some similarities. China is at the top with a 29.59 percentage and the US isn’t far behind with a rate of 21.59 percent. Next, we come to the countries that are hit with cyber espionage. This would be the use of computer networks to gain unauthorized access to secret information this is likely held by some government organization. While the United States is at the top of the list with a rate of 58 percent, China is not on this list as the rate is slim to none. Lastly, we come to the lists of what country is most prepared and what country is most vulnerable to cyber attacks. Looking at the one list, the United States is the second most prepared to deal with cyber attacks while China is in the top five most vulnerable. This is also shown in the average costs of these attacks. The US is at a loss of 17.36 million dollars while China has lost 1.2 billion dollars.
