How does cyber technology impact interactions between offenders and victims?

Our society nowadays has numerous advancements of cybercrime in the world especially with the change in the relationship between victims and attackers. In the past a crime was usually committed in person and face to face. For example, a robbery was where a person physically taking valuable possessions from another person. Often by making the victim physically afraid and could make them scared to walk around alone anymore.

In our current world most crimes are committed online and virtually. Cybercriminals can create that same amount of damage through the cyber world than in person. If cybercriminals gain access to a company’s software, then the criminals would be able to steal the company’s information and could sell it for revenue. This is still considered robbery even if the theft took place in the cyber world and not face to face. This crime stills hold the same punishable time as if it was face to face despite the crime being through the digital world.

Cyber technology has altered the way people are victimized in crime today. People can fall victim to a crime and not know about it of till days later. Because this commonly happens to many people. People don’t know what to look for or what are red flags for making themselves at risk target of these cybercrimes.

A way to improve cybersecurity is to inform people. In order to let them know what to look for in order to not fall victim to cybercrimes and if they do. They can recognize it quickly and stop it before more problems happened. Cybercrimes will keep increasing in popularity as times goes on and even if they aren’t face to face crimes. They can still be damaging and scaring as face-to-face crimes by making people feel like they have lost their sense of privacy.
