Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

The four ethical issues I thought of when storing electronic information about others are privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies.

Privacy is always an issue especially because it contains private information such as name, address, bank and medical information, and so much more. Since our world has transferred to digital most people are concerned with keeping confidentiality and keeping their information safe. The digital world we live in has become easier to access from any location and this does make people nervous over their privacy. Especially when that information is sensitive and private.

Security breaches are another issue when storing electronic information. Security breach also called data breach is a serious problem that can damage the working processes of any business, in addition to negatively impacting the reputation and cause financial harm. Security has to be very strict and regularly monitored in order to make sure there are no breaches. Sadly, since are world has gone digital it is easier to hack and gain access to information. The systems maintenance and controls need to be updated.

System implementations are an issue because with an outdated system there is a higher chances of security breaches. The systems need to also be checked regularly to make sure a breach has not taken place. Very large databases complicate the problems of data recovery, retrieval, update, integrity, security, and transaction processing. Software solutions work well for these problems on both large databases supporting only a few applications and small databases supporting many applications.

Data inaccuracies are issues because with the mass amount of information there can be inconsistencies and incorrect information marked as correct information. This can cause serious problem if the data is not kept up to date. If the system is not able to handle the possibility of information not being available at the time of entry. Also, the failure to allow for options that express about a value leads to many inaccuracies in data.
