Just what is a framework and why can it be useful? Briefly describe the 5 core activities of NIST’s Cybersecurity framework.
Cybercrime (Interdisciplinary Studies, B.S.) major prepares for occupations in law enforcement and information technology. The cybercrime program help develop skills in mathematics and logic. This major focuses on technology-related criminal justice issues, including cyberlaws and computer crime investigations. Also help acquire the technical skills including knowledge of cybersecurity, computer networking, common programming languages, and digital forensics. This major related to cybersecurity because it combined both Criminal Justice and Cybersecurity. It includes crimes in the digital world and the digital laws.
Computer Science (M.S.) program is designed with a strong background in computer science. ODU’s Computer Science Department supports in-depth study at graduate level in areas such as: bioinformatics, digital libraries, networking, machine intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, high performance computing, software engineering, and computational foundations. This major related to cybersecurity because cybersecurity is a subfield of computer science and it focuses on understanding of computers and networks.
Network Engineering (Information Systems & Technology, B.S.B.A.) program offers a unique mixture of business knowledge and technical skills that prepare students for success in the highly competitive and increasingly technical business world. Network Engineering concentration prepares students to be successful in the network engineering and management field with coursework in network design, server and desktop administration, and network management. This major related to cybersecurity because Network Engineers are responsible for protecting company networks against cyber-attacks.
Computer Engineering (B.S.COM.E.) program provides a broad engineering background and a comprehensive foundation in the technical principles primarily the computer area. The technical core consists of electrical engineering to address hardware aspects of computer engineering and from computer science to address software aspects. The course focuses on mastering the design, test and synthesis of advanced digital circuits. This major related to cybersecurity because cyber engineers use electrical engineering and computer science. In order to defend the network to preform cybersecurity tasks using both engineering hardware and software.
