As the Spring 2026 CCR Communication and Marketing Intern<\/strong> my tasks and expectations <\/strong>included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Managing CCR’s Social Media pages Including, Twitter (X), Facebook, and Instagram<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Create Social Media Content <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Manage Social Media Campaigns<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Use Social Media Analytics to create new or edit current strategies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Increase follower engagement, encourage volunteer sign-ups, promote adoptable rescue dogs & market fundraising events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
My daily duties and responsibilities<\/strong> as an intern were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Planned content by preparing a weekly social media strategy overview using web applications Buffer and Monday.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Developed creative storytelling skills by crafting engaging social media content, including at least one organic post and four daily Instagram stories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enhanced communication and coordination abilities by collaborating with foster coordinator to source photos of foster dogs and pet adoption updates for promotional use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Created email correspondence for campaigns, events, fundraising, and sponsorship opportunities. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Onboarding Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n- I found this internship opportunity with the help of Ms. Kathy Moiser,<\/strong> the Assistant Director of the Monarch Humanities Internship Academy (MHIA). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- I sent my resume, cover letter, and writing sample to the Internship Supervisor Shawnna Kerns<\/strong>, at Compact Canine Rescue. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- She invited me to a Google Meet interview and offered me a position that week. The next steps were applying for funding using the Mellon Foundation Award through MHIA. I needed to provide them with a signed copy of my internship offer letter and answer some essay style questions through an online survey. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
This internship was supported by the Mellon Foundation Award.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nMeasurable Effects\/Impact of Internship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Managed and updated social media accounts across platforms such as Instagram<\/strong>, Facebook<\/strong>, X<\/strong>, LinkedIn<\/strong> and TikTok<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Grew Instagram following by 8.4% in a 120-day period, an increase in 111 followers.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Marketing efforts contributed to a total of 104 monetary donations equaling $20,000<\/strong>, 151 adoption applications<\/strong>, 7<\/strong> foster applications<\/strong>, and 3 volunteer applications<\/strong> in a 120-day period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Created engaging posts to promote adoptable dogs, fundraising events, and volunteer opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Created and executed 5 marketing campaign<\/strong>s to include social media, email blasts, web content and other communications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Designed graphics and visual content to enhance brand awareness and community engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Scheduled and monitored posts to maintain consistent online presence and follower interaction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Collaborated with rescue staff and volunteers to gather photos, videos, and stories for social media use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Tracked analytics and engagement metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Gained experience with various marketing and project management platforms such as Buffer<\/strong>, Monday<\/strong>, and Canva<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Updated company website to keep up with current campaigns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
