Work-Based Learning Project

St. Patrick’s Day 50/50 Raffle Social Media Campaign

As an intern with Compact Canine Rescue, I was given the task to create a campaign for the organization’s St. Patrick’s Day 50/50 Raffle. My role was to create the campaign plan which included a timeline, content creation, and marketing the material. I made several graphics, flyers, reels, and stories for this raffle—I wanted to achieve the most participation possible.

I learned a lot from this project, but it did not go how I expected. We did not have much participation with this 50/50 Raffle. I learned the importance of requesting permission to post or share someone’s profile; more specifically, I learned the significance of interorganizational communication. I asked my supervisor, not the raffle winner, if I could announce the winner (and tag them) on Instagram. After discussing with that person later, I discovered that they would prefer to remain anonymous. I was able to quickly fix this mistake by removing the posts, but I still felt guilty about what happened. I made a follow up post at the suggestion of my supervisor to let our followers know that the winner would like to remain anonymous (with the hope that not everyone saw the original post).

Overall, for my first fundraising campaign it was a positive experience. I learned about creating a social media campaign timeline, content creation (including email blasts) and executing a campaign from start to finish. This was the first time I used Monday.com to create a campaign plan, and I’ve included examples of the content I created for the St. Patrick’s Day 50/50 Raffle below.
