University 150 was an amazing experience that propelled my writing skills forward. I learned a significant amount of writing techniques that improved my essay scores. Before learning these techniques my writing and planning for an essay were extremely poor. I would find myself drifting off topic half way through my paper. Eventually I was able to improve by learning how to plan out each essay carefully before I started any paper. The thought process was strenuous, but in order to focus and to continue to work on the fundamental of my writing I studied more. After reading the chapters carefully I found the mistakes I was making and the issues I was struggling with. The challenging part was relaying the material and information from the book to the actual essay’s I was working on. The ideas and planning stages were not as difficult as I thought they would be. I would get stuck on the extra ideas that I needed to include in my essay to make it at least five hundred words. Often it was a struggle to start an essay without any ideas or guidance to rely on. Somehow I pulled it off by explaining my details further.

Before I began the university 150 class I was an average writing student. I didn’t like writing essay as much or rather writing them at all. I wouldn’t even think about planning a single essay. I would start the paper and see what came to mind. I didn’t give it much thought because of the grades I received were excellent. My first essay in this class was absolutely terrible without a doubt. Since then I improved with each essay and now I believe I won’t struggle as much anymore. I was willing to seek help from my peers and teacher, which in return boosted my grade and confidence. Listening to someone critique my paper without saying its awful or the word usage is poor made me feel better. In the future I’ll remember what this class gave me and helped me achieve along the way.
