Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individual.
The four issues that I will talk about are privacy/confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracy. Having privacy and keeping things confidential is considered an ethical issue. Although, this allows a company to keep information about an individual, but the information can sometimes be shared. The concept of privacy is an ethical issue because a company can obtain information about an individual and the data would be saved on a technological device that could be taken away. Security breaches is another ethical issue because when confidential health information is made available to others without the individual’s consent, patient privacy is jeopardized. Another ethical issue would have to be system implementation. This would be considered an ethical issue because the implementation in companies caused patients to lose trust and patient safety issues because the implementation was not managed up to date or the workers did not know how to use it correctly. The final ethical issue is data inaccuracy, which arises when data is lost during a data transfer and raises questions about whether or not the data about the patient is going to be accurate.
