The costs and benefits of developing a cybersecurity program within a business can vary depending on a number of factors. It is recommended that small businesses should develop cyber security programs for a variety of reasons, one of which is that they do not make as much money as larger businesses. With that said, a cybercrime will be more damaging to a small business because of the money that could be lost. Although, every business is vulnerable to cybercrime, so every business should have some level of protection in place to make them less vulnerable. As time passes, more businesses are beginning to store information on mobile devices such as phones and laptops. Since this is the case, I believe that small businesses should spend some of their money on mobile security. Therefore, this would look for the vulnerabilities in these devices, allowing the company to keep track of who has access to their information. This would allow the businesses to continue making their money because they would not be targeted by mobile devices. Security awareness training is another cyber security program that I would recommend to a small business. This is in order to train employees on maintaining good security practices and to ensure that employees are aware of the security policies in place. I would advise them to participate in this program because many small businesses are family-owned. With this in mind, the owners would be able to teach their employees on good security habits, reducing the likelihood of a cyber-attacker easily attacking the system. Overall, small businesses will not be able to afford cyber security protection for all aspects of their operations because they simply do not generate as much revenue as larger corporations. Although nothing can be completely protected, it would be beneficial to have some safeguards in place to make it more difficult for an attacker to hack the business.
