MIner’s Dream<\/em> is a mining and action game that has the player set on the surface on a nice plains area, before having the player dig down into the dirt and stone to gather resources to upgrade their gear. With an economy struggling in the world, the player will play as Miner, which is the player’s character. The player will need to engage combat while digging and exploring against bug like creatures called Lioners and even Darkness itself with their lantern. If the lantern dies out however, the Miner will be engulfed in darkness and brought back up to the surface to retrace their steps. Players will need to deal with sluggish movement, weak tools, and clicking to mine at first, until they upgrade their gear to become the best miner out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Miner’s Dream<\/em> is at its core, a mining game. Players must gather resources from mining ores, stones, and even rare artifacts or gems to then sell and upgrade their equipment. These upgrades would allow players to have much better movement, faster mining, auto mining with certain pickaxes, and even better swords and lanterns to fight back against enemies and see them sooner. As the player gets deeper, enemies become stronger, variants of Lioners and even other enemies can start spawning as the player presses deeper down into the mine and reach The End in order to fight against the boss Lioner to “Reborn.” Once a player has Reborn, more upgrades are unlocked and new tools are also unlocked for the player to get, however, this restarts all of their progress and also grants a 2x multiplier to speed, mining power, sell value, health, and attack power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With these mechanics, players can quickly push deeper into the mine after upgrading their equipment and stand a much better chance against Lioners, The Dark, and other enemies that spawn within the mine. Movement becomes a very important upgrade when it comes to speed, as escaping attacks is crucial so players don’t lose the resources they’ve obtained, and also to move much faster and in return, mine faster while time ticks for the lantern with The Dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Dark is a constantly prevalent entity, but with the lantern burning, The Dark will constantly be warded off until the Lantern burns after 2 minutes without upgrades. If the player does not leave the mine in time, The Dark will slowly consume the player and respawn them back at the top, however, with 50% of their resources taken and their health left at 1hp. The Dark serves as a timer of sorts, preventing players from spending all of their time in the mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lioners are bug like creatures that sleep within the Mine. As the player digs, these creatures are disturbed and will tunnel to the player to try and kill them. Players must use their sword in order to kill the Lioners. If a player dies to one, 75% of their resources are taken and the player is respawned at the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Miner is the embodiment of the player, being in control by the player entirely. Due to the struggling economy of their world, they embody the help of a higher being in order to help them with their job of being a Miner. And so, the player is the higher being guiding the Miner to The End. Once the player hits The End after beating the boss Lioner, the Miner will dig into extremely valuable gems. After reaching the bottom, the player will see a cutscene of the Miner selling these gems for lots of money, finally being able to afford an apartment and settle down with their money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n While there are not many mining games out there that take this concept, one notable game is Diggy. Diggy has aspects of this game’s idea, using a drill to dig down by clicking to mine and mine resources to sell at a shop to upgrade gear and press deeper down into caves. Luckily however, this game does not have any combat features, not many upgrades and even a reborn feature to make the game more enjoyable for repeat playthroughs.
