Watch this video and pay attention to the way that movies distort hackers. After watching the video, write a journal entry about how you think the media influences our understanding about cybersecurity

After watching the video, it’s important to take some elements — and in certain cases, everything — with a grain of salt when comparing it to real-world cybersecurity. To some extent, like the movie The Matrix mentioned in the video, it does highlight actual command-line usage and demonstrates what it can do. It even goes so far as to showcase a recently exploited vulnerability from the real world, which adds a layer of authenticity. However, some of the terms used may not be actual cybersecurity jargon, and there’s often a tendency to portray individuals as if they’re supercomputers themselves. The media often tries to make hacking appear mysterious and suggests you need to be a genius to do it — but that’s not always the case.
