Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology? – I have always had a strong passion for computers, as we live in a digital age. I have watched my father throughout my childhood building and creating codes for various software programs. I remember being so fascinated staring at my father’s many computer screens just wondering what he was executing. As a child my imagination always ran wild. I thought my dad was somehow saving the world. As a huge comic book fan, I too wanted to do the same as my father, so I decided to participate as a personnel in cybersecurity. Just thinking about protecting networks from nefarious hackers and malware like a superhero made me ecstatic and eager to have cybersecurity as my major. It has always been an ambition of mine to have a position in a government as an agent but I figured it would be too physically demanding for me to achieve those requirements. This is why I decided to engage in cybersecurity while I uphold the law in a technological aspect. I have studied both cybersecurity and computer science and would like to have a position where I can utilize the knowledge that was received from studying both of the subjects. I am looking forward to applying for this internship because not only would it help me learn more in cybersecurity, but I know this is the right place for me to broaden my horizons in the career that I am striving for.

Computer Science – Computer Science is an important tool for cybersecurity as a cybersecurity professional needs to know coding in order to protect systems from threats. Some threats like malware are coded in languages like Python, C++, and sometimes even C#. A cybersecurity professional should have knowledge of all coding languages if they are to protect systems from any threat that can happen. 2. Business – Business is a subject that should always be connected with cybersecurity. Businesses have been more into technology since technology keeps advancing. Cybersecurity is needed in order businesses to protect their data, info, and websites from being tampered with. 3. IT – IT is also a mandatory knowledge that all cybersecurity professionals should know. It is important to know about how a computer is used, networking, infrastructure and processes to create, process, store, secure and exchange all forms of electronic data as it will be important incase of a cyber attack. 4. Social Science – Social Science is a great source of knowledge for cybersecurity professionals due to the studies on behaviour. A cybersecurity professional could use this knowledge to study how a cyber attacker works and try to use that to come up with defense methods.
