When it comes to human nature, people are naturally flawed by design. People make mistakes, make bad judgement calls, and make selfish individual decisions at the expense of others. These people have existed all throughout history and in all spaces. One of these places were deviance is seen is the workplace. over the past 20-30 years the cyber technology has had a huge impact on how work is done. The implementation of cyber technology has made getting job tasks done in a much more efficient matter. but these same technologies have also made it much more easier to commit workplace deviance. One such example is the vast ability to communicate with other workers. Having a workplace that uses technology as allows one to quickly get in touch with others in the form of email and social media platform has created a huge opportunity for nefarious activities to take place. for example, a worker is envious of a co workers promotion could easily use cyber technology to spread false information around to other co workers and members of staff to get that employee into trouble. Another example is the amount of privacy cyber technology gives to people. the concept of office cubicles has been around for a long time when it comes to keeping your work to yourself, but having technology that would allow a person to easily hide information in a massive online collection of folders and databases is relatively recent. and with cybertechnology like flash drives, smart phones, tablets, laptops etc…work is able to be done outside of the actual work environment. When a person is able so much privacy when it comes to their jobs, its completely within the realm of possibility that said person would be using the time when a overseer is not looking in order to do things that would negatively impact the workplace. another example is the sheer potential for deviance that certain cyber technology provides. technology is something that is constantly developing. because of this, its no surprise that there are people out there that work night and day to improve hardware and software that make workplace deviance all the more easier to both commit and get away with. for example, there are several hard drives out there with dangerous malware hidden on them. all a person would have to do is walk up to a staff computer, plug the flash drive in and let the malware quickly do the rest. the opportunities to exploit and commit deviance drastically increase when the tools and methods that do into the exploit are simple and quick to do.
