The internet is a tool that is used in just about every part of the globe, especially in developed countries. And in using the internet, like with most other things, there comes with it a series of risks to be mindful of. The US and China are two of the largest countries in the world and unsurprisingly as a result, they produce alot of internet traffic. because of this, users in both countries come across similar cybersecurity risks, but theyre are also risks that each country experiences more. For example, a common cyber risk both countries share is that of Digital Piracy and Spam. The US and China are huge countries with huge populations, With such a huge amount of people using the internet on a daily basis, it makes sense why these types of cyber risks are so frequent. Many people in these countries want to have the luxury of consuming media without having to pay for it, so its a no brainer why cyber criminals would decide to create countless online torrent sites. they’ll be able to get alot of traffic and taking all of them down would be very difficult to outright impossible. the is true for spam emails. the main goal of spam emails is to fool and exploit as many people as possible, so targeting geological regions with large populations makes the most sense. An example of a risk that is more specific to each country is US phishing. With phishing being the act of a shady person or group appearing to be legit in order to trick unsuspecting internet users, its not a surprise why this would be more of a problem in the US. the US is a very fast paced culture with many people seeking information and ways to go about their lives as quickly as possible. because of this, its no surprise that in that rush, alot of people wouldnt go the extra step to make sure that the online sources that they were using are legit, thus making the country a ideal area for phishing attacks. An example of a more China centered cybersecurity risks is the use of botnets.
