A lot of children at a young age get into sports at a young age. For me it was very young. All my cousins were older than me so they knew what sports were popular and which ones weren’t. I would just follow there lead when we went to go play outside. I didn’t know much about teams or many sports at the time. The first time I was introduced so a mix of sports was when I lived in a neighborhood where all of us would go outside and play after school. Everyday would be a different sport. I had a cousin that was close to my age so that was who I would talk to about sports. He taught me all types of sports and how to play them correctly. I got a little older and once I had a cell phone I would download the ESPN app to let me know what was going on in sports. Throughout the years the different ways you could find information about sports or teams was either on television or the internet when people would go crazy on social media during a big game. More people at school started talking about sports, so it became a big thing during lunch in the cafeteria just to talk about how our teams were doing. Now there is a million different ways to look at sports news.
In the next five years, I predict that sports would be the main thing that will be on social media. For example, on the Twitter app it sends you notifications of things you have nothing to do with. It tells you what other people find interesting. Most apps will step up there competition and give the best information they can with apps just letting you know the news multiple days at a time.
If I were able to change something in sport communication, it would be the negative comments of an athlete when they have a bad game or bad play. I feel like that is what makes some of the players not want to play again.
