Davin Teo’s journey into the field of digital forensics is very interesting as it shows how flexible the cybersecurity field is and how easy it is to discover new careers in the growing tech world. While he was forced into accounting and data analytics, he became more and more interested in the world of IT until he eventually heard of digital forensics and joined a team without fully knowing what it is. It shows how experience in the field can flow into different careers within the field and how different types of people can find different niches to fit into in a field like cybersecurity. Given many other roles like hackers, systems administrators, and many others, the cybersecurity field is growing and where people end up often relates to how they approach social sciences. For example, interest in digital forensics requires people who have a sense of justice and duty to aid in investigations while having the patience to work with clients and sift through valuable data to find what they are looking for. His journey shows the roles of nature and nurture guiding a person’s personality and interactions with social science situations in the role they fit into best within a chosen field.
