It reminds us that many cyber threats aren’t just about systems being hacked, but about people being manipulated behaviorally, socially, and psychologically. From my perspective, the article suggests interesting intersectional opportunities, for example, studying how narratives spread via social networks, how group behavior changes under manipulation, or how historical precedents of propaganda map onto modern social-cyber attacks. One caveat, because of its survey nature, the article gives a wide overview but less deep empirical detail in any one domain. So if you were to dive deeper, you might want to pick up a sub-topic and look at case studies or empirical papers. Overall, I’d say the article strongly supports the idea that in our digital age, protecting “social cybersecurity” is as important as protecting “technical cybersecurity”, and that your knowledge of human social behavior gives you a useful lens to engage with these issues. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I find this article timely and valuable, especially because of its focus on the social dimension of cyber threats, which is often under-emphasized in typical cybersecurity discussions.
