Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a global leader in cloud computing services, providing scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions to businesses and organizations worldwide. During my internship with AWS, I was responsible for managing and maintaining the daily operations of Amazon’s data centers, ensuring the efficiency and reliability of critical IT infrastructure. I conducted regular hardware inspections, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of networking equipment and other data center hardware to minimize downtime. In addition to my technical duties, I worked closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, facilities, and security, to support various data center projects and initiatives. A highlight of my experience was leading an intern project focused on site audits, where I independently navigated data centers to gather important information about decommissioned loose gear, contributing to operational improvements. I also had the opportunity to shadow and receive training from the Security Operations Center (SOC) and CloudOps teams, assisting in analyzing security metadata and logs, identifying malicious activity, and participating in cross-team incident response efforts. This experience deepened my understanding of both physical and cloud infrastructure operations and strengthened my skills in cybersecurity, teamwork, and project management.
