My name is Isain Cortes Jr, and I am a cybersecurity student at Old Dominion University, set to graduate in May 2025. Before transferring to ODU, I attended Germanna Community College, where I began building my foundation in cybersecurity. Over the past few years, I’ve built a diverse range of experience through internships with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the CAE in Cybersecurity Community. I’ve also participated in undergraduate research through the COVA CCI program, diving into real-world cybersecurity challenges. I hold certifications in CompTIA Security+, Network+, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

Outside of cybersecurity, I’m all about balance and creativity. I’m a cartoon fanatic, an avid traveler, and someone who never turns down a good basketball game or gym session. I’m also passionate about hackathons, where I get to apply my skills in fun and competitive ways. I learn best through analogies, enjoy deep conversations, and love drawing connections between seemingly unrelated ideas. Whether it’s sports, storytelling, or staying disciplined, I bring that same energy into everything I do, especially when it comes to growing in this field.
