Week 1 – Journal Entry

After reviewing the NICE Workforce Framework, I noticed some areas that both I would want to focus my career on and that appeal the least. Some areas I would want to focus the most on is cyber defense analyst, incident response, and customer service/technical support. The reason why those areas catch my eye is because I believe it’s important to harden assets within an organization first in order to defend against potential threats. Being able to respond in a set timeframe to incidents help mitigate the time it takes to combat an alert and alter its severity. Customer service might be the most important because at the end of the day, you’re still providing a service to many individuals both in and out an organization. Software development would be the least appealing for me. Developing and writing code for computer applications is important to note in cybersecurity because you want to make sure there aren’t any flaws or malicious code embedded. However, it can be very tedious and consumes a lot of time since it’s very trial and error.
