Research Project:

The research project that I chose was on how affordability and the rising costs of college universities can affect a student’s academic performance.  This was a topic of interest for me.  I wanted to research more information on this topic and address the issues that were associated.  I wanted to find solutions to the problems.  I chose to research this topic because it personally benefits me.  This topic is also beneficial to older students who are preparing for college, along with students who are currently in college.  There isn’t enough guidance to prepare students for the financial burdens of college.  Most students are unprepared for the consequences that are associated with these financial burdens.  This topic was challenging at first because I had to figure out what questions I wanted to address.  It was also hard to find scholarly sources.  This assignment is relevant to me as a student and as a future educator.  The writing process has helped me with my writing experience.  Each step was essential for my paper to come together as a whole.  I used correct grammar, punctuations, and transitions in my sentences.  My research paper was created to address an audience and inform them by providing facts and solutions to issues or problems.  Each individual assignment helped me practice my writing skills to produce a final product.  I also learned many new facts about my topic.

My thesis was created to start my research paper and it was the center of my research topic.  I had to find multiple scholarly sources for the summary, synthesis, argument, and research paper.  I used them to cite my sources by creating an annotated bibliography.  Summarizing taught me to focus on one particular article at a time.  I had to summarize what each article was about.  I also had to analyze my sources when I created my synthesis paper.  The argument paper had me address my thoughts and opinions by backing them with evidence.  I was able to learn from my mistakes by reviewing my work and making corrections.  By revising my work, I was able to produce a well-written research paper with only a few minor errors.
