{"id":82,"date":"2024-10-01T16:33:06","date_gmt":"2024-10-01T16:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/student.wp.odu.edu\/hsafd001\/?p=82"},"modified":"2024-10-01T16:33:06","modified_gmt":"2024-10-01T16:33:06","slug":"journal-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/student.wp.odu.edu\/hsafd001\/2024\/10\/01\/journal-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Journal #5"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Here is my ranking for the motives for cybercrime from least to most sensible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Monetary gain, This is the most consistent and powerful drive to commit criminal behavior and cybercrime is no exception.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Various factors, many cybercriminals have complex motivation that can&#8217;t be reduced to one factor and knowing that it&#8217;s a combination of various factors makes a more nuanced explanation for cybercrime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Political, some hacker groups are performing hacktivism with a specific political goal in mind or to get a certain message out there to a certain group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognition, Some cybercriminals seek attention and acknowledgement for the crimes they commit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revenge, can be a strong emotional drive and is a more personal motive than the other.
