Who is the Founding Father? Who coined the Term?\u201d from the International Journal of Cyber Criminology. The article provides insights on the origin and the frameworks for defining cyber criminology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Relation to Social Science Principles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cyber criminology exemplifies the interdisciplinary nature of modern social sciences. It combines concepts from criminology, victimology, sociology, internet science and computer science while connecting the dots between these fields in order to create an understanding of the modern day complex digital phenomena. (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Questions Addressed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article addresses the questions of defining what cyber criminology is. It dives into who the founding father of criminology is as well as who coined the term for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Methods<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather than consulting typical research methods, the article is based off of a historical and conceptual understanding of the cyber criminology field\u2019s development. It likely draws from previous known knowledge of the origins of cyber criminology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Data and Analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article primarily presents historical definitions rather than analyzing data or statistics. The key points are that the definition of cyber criminology is the \u201cstudy of causation of crimes occurring the cyberspace and the impact it has in the physical space\u201d (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023) The rationale behind coining the term \u201ccyber criminology\u201d is also examined. The multifaceted nature of the field that requires combining various social and computer science concepts to come to an understanding of cybercrime (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Relation to Course Concepts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article draws parallels with several concepts in criminology and social science research such as the interdisciplinary approaches that cyber criminology combines from multiple fields to address social issues. The emergence of this field suggests that there is a need for a specialized more focused study of digital age crimes. This field also aims to develop new theories and frameworks to understand cybercrime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marginalized Groups and Cybercrime<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the article doesn\u2019t specifically mention or address marginalized groups, the field of cyber criminology makes it possible for future research into how cybercrime affects different demographics and how marginalized communities may be targeted specifically by cyber hate crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contributions to Society<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article highlights the focus of establishing cyber criminology as a focused field of study from a social science perspective (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023). It also distinguishes this field from investigative approaches while focusing on the sociological aspects of cybercrime (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023). The launch of the International Journal of Cyber Criminology helped establish the field in online and offline academic spaces (International Journal of Cyber Criminology, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In conclusion, this article provides a foundation for understanding cyber criminology as an emerging academic field. By defining this field and explaining the origins of it, the article allows the groundwork for future research in this crucial area of study.
