With living in a predominately technological society, cybersecurity plays an important role when it comes to the technology we use and how it can affect us. Cybersecurity is broad, and there are many subsections within the subject as well as many other subjects that also involve cybersecurity. This short essay will discuss some of the majors that include cybersecurity such as cybercrime, criminal justice, computer sciences, and psychology.

Cybercrime is a major where a main aspect includes learning about the criminal activity that occurs throughout the cyber world. Examples of this can include different types of fraud, theft, espionage, etc. It is the goal of cybersecurity technology to protect our technology and help prevent these crimes, such as by staying updated on computer systems and anti-virus softwares. 

Cybercrime also intertwines with criminal justice, another major that involves cybersecurity. People who participate in cybercrime are still participating in illegal activity. At this point, cybersecurity is being looked at in terms of the social issues that can occur. There is a large scale of different threats that can range from issues such as spam, to an entire organization created from hackers. 

Hacker’s can be hard to track down, so it can come in handy to have some knowledge in computer sciences and use that knowledge as a resource. A Computer Science major involves learning about different technologies, programming, softwares, and the overall study of computers. Cybersecurity is only a segment of computer science, but it is an important one that deals with creating an understanding about the importance of safety in technology. 

The last subject I’ll discuss that involves cybersecurity is psychology. This focuses on the mindset of a hacker and the psychological manipulation used on people who fall victim to cybercrimes. Hackers choose different types of individuals, whether it’s based on age, gender, or income, and they essentially manipulate an individual to fall victim. 

These are just a few of many subjects that involve cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a relevant topic that is only getting more relevant as technology expands and diversifies.
