With more people getting information from social media, both countries and other groups can influence societies from a distance, spreading their own ideas and causing division. Russia is mentioned as an example of a country that uses information warfare to weaken trust in institutions, spread lies, and create confusion by sharing fake news and conspiracy theories online. The authors introduce the \u201cBEND\u201d model, which looks at separate ways social cyberattacks work, some focus on the information itself, while others target the networks spreading it. They use tactics like bots, trolls, and fake communities to overwhelm people with false information. This shift in warfare shows how important it is to defend the digital space, making cybersecurity a key part of national security.
