Week 5 – Journal Entry

After reviewing the articles provided in the slideshow, I was able to come to a conclusion and rank each article and its morive from 1 being the most sense to 7 making the least sense. I have organized th articles as follows:

  1. For money https://threatresearch.ext.hp.com/sex-drugs-and-toilet-rolls-how-cybercriminals-spend-their-money-infographic/
  2. Revenge https://newsfromwales.co.uk/news/revenge-porn-victims-in-wales-often-feel-let-down-by-the-law-as-cybercrime-slips-through-the-net/
  3. Recognition https://www.theregister.com/2021/06/30/bradley_niblock_election_ddos/
  4. Political https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/magazines/panache/new-generation-of-angry-youthful-hackers-join-the-hacktivism-wave-adding-to-cyber-security-woes/articleshow/81707844.cms
  5. Multiple reasons https://www.infosecurity-magazine.com/news/what-drives-hackers-to-a-life-of/?cf_chl_jschl_tk=pmd_c1d89a4695edbd23f2bceb54d70f35ce5e536e86-1626721164-0-gqNtZGzNAfijcnBszQi6
  6. Entertainment https://9to5mac.com/2021/07/19/man-behind-linkedin-scraping/
  7. Boredom https://www.heraldlive.co.za/news/2021-05-31-cyberbullying-and-online-sexual-grooming-of-children-on-the-increase/

the reasoning behind the way I have my list ranked is fairly self explainable. Ranks 1-5 were done for either some form of benefit or genuine reason while 6 and 7 have no reasoning behind them. At the end of the day any form of breaching or cyber attack is something that is unacceptable and should be avoided at all costs.
