Reflection Essay #2
As I took a look back at the last five weeks and reflect on my performance and changes I have made in not only this course but all of my other courses as well, I feel that it is also important to reflect on the life changes I’ve recently experienced because they seem to correlate.
Over the past two months, I have been dealing with a lot of the problems that have been caused by the outbreak of COVID-19. I have recently lost my job, been isolated from my family, had to adjust to a new way of learning and been dealing with the depression that results from living in a pandemic. Although my life has been a bit desolate, it seems as if my performance in school is only flourishing. I’m not sure if the reason maybe because I have more time to focus on my studies with fewer distractions, but whatever it maybe I can surely see my improvement.
In my last self-progress report, I wrote that I felt like I was working at such a slow pace that I considered myself to be stagnant. Most of the reason was that I had been very ill off and on, but I also believe that my difficulty with balancing work and school may have also been a factor. However, since I wrote that progress report, I have completed part one of my portfolio, continued with writing my last five journals, stayed up to date with both my second and third essays and completed my second oral report. I have also received a one-hundred on my second essay, second oral report, and first reflection essay; and have completed each quiz for this course, all of which I have received a perfect score on.
In reflection essay number one I stated my weakness. One of the issues that I was having was remembering to maintain a single viewpoint throughout my papers. While I may make this mistake on occasion, I don’t do it nearly as much as I did in my earlier writing. I am also getting better with transitioning to each paragraph and alternating the words and phrases I use so nothing is overstated. The only thing that I am still struggling with is how to form a proper conclusion without restating my thesis verbatim.
