Engineers are always working to create the newest and best things for the world, no matter what field of engineering. Biomedical engineers are always trying to make advances in the field of medicine with things like better prosthetics. Civil engineers try to find the best way to set up something like the infrastructure of a city. Computer engineers try to create the most efficient hardware for a computer that will allow it to run faster and smoother while still holding an increased amount of data within. In the same way, engineers in the field of cybersecurity make networks safer by continually trying to come up with newer and better systems to evade the efforts of attackers and make it harder to get into the system without authorization. Engineers might also set up the people side of things in a way so that information is only able to be accessed by certain personnel. Engineers look big picture, while a software developer likely only looks at the what the necessities of the software they create are. Engineers are the people that keep the systems updated so that they are always in line with the newest technology. By being able to manipulate the entire system – technology, people, firewalls, etc. – engineers are able to create what they believe to be the safest version of their network. Engineers often have a good deal of past experience to pull from to know what might work best and what might not work well for a given situation. They are able to look holistically and look at how the network will need to operate in order to meet the needs of the company they are setting the network up for. Engineers have a stressful, yet an important and fulfilling job as they know that they are being trusted by their employer to make a successful network and is well guarded and functional.
