I learned a lot of new commands over the course of this semester in CYSE 270. There was a lot of re-familiarization, some utilization of core concepts learned previously in other courses, or through experience, and some useful new commands to add to my tool set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Linux environment is far more lightweight, modular, and secure than Windows in almost every respect, and for that reason it’s good to be familiar with how to navigate, manipulate, and work in the operating system. Back when I was in the Coast Guard we had proprietary, stripped-down operating systems of Windows Server or Windows itself to work within, but it was incredibly inefficient compared to Linux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the semester, I felt I was becoming more and more familiar with the basic commands and concepts introduced, even as new variables were introduced. I’m hoping to carry this knowledge forward into my further learning and eventually my career. Given that my goals involve working with network security and risk assessment, I am sure the knowledge gained here will be incredibly pertinent to my future ventures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
