Honestly though, the more time I spend in this field the more I am made aware of its wide-reaching applications in the real world: in my time I have taken courses in psychology and criminal justice, Computing, systems security, and modeling and simulation; which are all extremely different disciplines tied together under a singular term. These small pockets of experience have also opened my mind up to all the possibilities and opportunities Cybersecurity really holds.

“Cyber-Security is much more than a matter of IT.” ― Stephane Nappo

8 Tweetable Cybersecurity Quotes | Blue-Pencil

When it comes to life after-school with a cybersecurity degree, One is almost certain to have an overwhelming amount of options when it comes to where they work and or who they work for, and in this day and age, having too many options is a great problem to have.

Ironically though, Id say my biggest reason for choosing cybersecurity has a lot to do with the media I was exposed to as a kid. The Harrison ford “Jack Ryan” movies, The “Mission Impossible” franchise, even darker movies like “contagion” all made me very interested in the fields of intelligence and security, because who didn’t want to be a super secret super cool spy agent as a kid.

These are just some of the most important pieces of the field that I believe swayed my decision but they are not all. There is a million and ten reasons to chose cybersecurity and its positives certainly outweigh its negatives. I mean the on the job training and networking in this field alone is enough to make one heavily consider it as an option. Cybersecurity is not for the faint of heart it can heavily strain one’s normal life if they are unable to find a healthy balance between work and life. All that said it is still a very interesting field with unfathomable potential.
