How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?
Workplace deviance is defined as intentional malicious activity targeted at an organization from within that organization. Employees can become frustrated with their job or with their higher-ups, to which they then use the resources they have access to with the intention of destroying information or recking computer systems. Another cause of workplace deviance is if an employee is given access to too much information and they use that against the organization. The last example is an employee that has put a price on private information from the organization they work at with the intention of selling it.
Cyber technology has made it easier for employees to gain access to information that they are not permitted to obtain. Employees can bring their personal laptops to work and use them as a way to bypass the organization’s security procedures so they can be undetected.
