The four ethical issues with storing personal information are security breaches, privacy, system implementation, and data inaccuracies.
If someones information were to be leaked, that could seriously endanger that person. Most of the personal information that is stored is name, phone number, address, and sometimes social security number and/or credit card number. If any of that information were to be made public, that individual would be at risk of identity theft and fraud. Most of the time this information is kept with organizations such as doctors offices.
Privacy is very important when storing your data online. There are privacy settings and agreements to make sure the user is aware of what is and isn’t protected. Half of the time, users don’t bother to read the security and privacy agreements because they are long and use very technical language that can be confusing to read and comprehend.
Security breaches pose a high risk of information being stolen as well. They can go undetected until it is too late, and all information can be lost.
The United States has a high rate of being the victim of cybercrime. People in America always get scammed by other countries, such as China, which can lead to infiltration.
Europe has the highest rate of cybercrime because they are very vulnerable. They have had numerous Cloud attacks in the past few years, and several breaches involving Microsoft.
