ENGL 110C – English Composition

This English Composition course from the first semester of my freshman year aimed to emphasize personal development and leadership skills through writing, and actually helped me to achieve or at least begin to grow those skills. A standout assignment for me from this course was the community discourse essay that I had to do. For my paper, I proposed providing some sort of entertainment to those facing homelessness with the hopes of inspiring, uplifting, entertaining and encouraging those who may be sad, depressed, hungry, lonely, and fearful due to their status of being homeless. A project that, while unrelated to cybersecurity, taught me the value of community building and entrepreneurial thinking. This experience marked a pivotal moment, helping me understand the broader impact of leadership skills through writing.

Through this project, I gained valuable skills such as leadership, communication, and critical thinking, while fostering a sense of innovation. Crafting a proposal to provide entertainment for those who are less fortunate allowed me to channel my creativity and compassion to apply my innovative mindset, resulting in a meaningful concept that resonated with me on a personal level. These skills and values are essential for my future goals, particularly in cybersecurity, as they equip me to develop and implement innovative ideas in a professional setting. This experience provided a foundation for tackling challenges with creativity and leadership, both of which are very important to achieving long-term success in any field.

The most meaningful artifact from this project is the paper itself, which I believe showcases the heart of the assignment and the vision I aimed to bring to life. The paper not only demonstrates the skills and values I gained, but also highlights my personal commitment to creating meaningful, community focused initiatives.
