To identify fraudulent websites, search for crucial indicators such as poor design, suspicious URLs, or sloppy grammar. A phony website, for example, may use a URL such as “amaz0n-shop.com” rather than the real “amazon.com.” Fake websites frequently use badly designed logos or strange formatting that does not match the genuine site, such as “Paypal.com-services.co” against the real “paypal.com.”

Three such phony sites include “facebo0k-security.info” impersonating Facebook, “Netflix-customer-login.xyz” impersonating Netflix, and “bankofamerica-login.support” impersonating a bank. Real websites, on the other hand, have secure URLs that begin with “https,” clean layouts, and clear branding. The biggest differences are in the URL structure, lack of security (no padlock icon next to the URL), and phishing efforts via pop-ups requesting personal information.

Always verify legitimacy by carefully inspecting the URL, looking for security measures, and checking for grammatical problems.
