While cybersecurity is an extensive area, I had never thought I would be a cybersecurity major. Cybersecurity technology is honestly one of the most interesting portions as it relates to everyday life. I am interested in learning more about how it relates to society than I already know. The constant change and how cybersecurity and technology affect us whether good or bad will be interesting to see as I pursue my degree and career. To be able to understand how systems are put into place to protect people and their information is also interesting. I think everyone should be able to recognize threats to their and their family’s private information. Being able to protect your home from threats other than physical is also important and every home with any technology is subject to these threats. My interest also comes from various extended family members who have graduated and will be graduating with a cybersecurity degree. I usually stray away from challenging my mind, but I am excited to see how much I can open my brain to these ideas and concepts. After learning more about this class, I am enticed to learn more about the interdisciplinary aspect and what it could teach me about the fields I may enter in the future. Hearing that this class will go over how cybersecurity and technology relate to society will be interesting to hear. Everything that is put out on the internet is there forever and everything I spend my money on is tracked unless I pay cash. The concept of a digital footprint and being able to take charge of my digital identity is something I find very interesting. The knowledge I know I will have after this semester propels me into a successful future while also being able to relate my education to my day-to-day routine.
