In today’s society, one thing that people use every day is technology. Technology has advanced every year due to how many people use it although that can be a good thing it can be just as much as a bad thing. A pro to the progression of technology is that you can talk to anyone anywhere at any time but it can be a con also because just as easy as it is to talk to someone you can just as easily bully someone and they would never know who it is. The progression of technology has also had a major impact on crimes that happen. For example, a crime that has completely changed due to technology is robbery. Robbery has changed substantially. In the past, you would have to come up to someone with a weapon and rob them in person and they would be able to rob you but now in the present day, you can rob someone over the internet by breaking into their bank accounts or stealing assets and investments. In-person robberies were so terrifying people would be scared to walk alone at night now people are terrified for it to happen cause it is hard to recover. Granted this crime was done online it still holds the same punishment as if it was done in person. Another example of a crime that has changed throughout the advancement of technology is stealing someone’s identity. In the past, you would have to steal someone’s wallet to start the process of taking someone’s identity but now if you know some answers to personal questions and know the password to their account you can steal their identity easily. As easy as it is to be a target of these horrific crimes it is just as easy to protect yourself by doing things like using different passwords for different sites and not sharing your information with others.
