Cybersecurity and criminal justice have a very strong relationship with each other. Technology plays a very huge role in incriminating people. Any crime that is committed on the web or anywhere all goes through the same justice system. For example, if police have a person on their radar one of the first things they do to implicate them is try to find evidence through social media, phone messages, or tapping into their phone calls. Another example of cybersecurity help solving crimes is if for example someone is accused of selling narcotics cybersecurity can tap into their phone messages to see if there was any conversation about distributing narcotics. There is a position in the justice system that proves the connection between cyber and criminal justice, the position name is called criminologist. Criminologists analyze human factors to try and explain human behavior in crimes and cybercrimes. Another task that they do in the criminal system that intertwines with cyber is digital forensics. Digital forensics is a branch of science that goes onto devices and recovers, analyzes, and investigates for anything illegal or suspicious. Digital forensics also helps with white-collar crimes. White-collar crimes are things like securities fraud, embezzlement, corporate fraud, and money laundering. A lot of people that are in college and are majoring in criminal justice once they have completed their core classes may take the entry-level cybersecurity classes to become familiar with some of the techniques the justice system uses. Technology is essential to people’s everyday life so cybersecurity and criminal justice are very important so that we can cover everyone and make sure nothing illegal is happening without fast detection and proper evidence to confirm the ability of conviction. Although they could make 2 different systems for cyber crimes and others I feel that it just makes more sense and is more efficient to keep running it through one
