When I started creating my sport-related social media persona, I wanted something that wasn’t tied to my real accounts and something that could be fun to post from all semester. I decided to build a character instead of using my 100% real identity, and I knew right away I wanted it to be funny, slightly ridiculous, and easy for people to recognize. That’s how I ended up choosing the Delusional Dallas Fan, a persona based on the overconfident supporter of the Dallas Cowboys who believes without a single doubt that the team is winning the Super Bowl every year. (Which I can relate to as I am one of them)

The humor of this persona comes from the extreme and unrealistic confidence. Every offseason move becomes “the missing piece,” every preseason highlight becomes “proof it’s our year,” and every regular-season loss is excused, ignored, or blamed on anything except the team. This type of fan exists in its own world, a world where Dallas is always a championship favorite no matter what actually happens on the field. That blind optimism makes the character fun, playful, and instantly recognizable to anyone who follows football.
The Delusional Dallas Fan lets me create content that leans into exaggeration and humor while staying sponsor-friendly and lighthearted. The entire identity revolves around one theme no matter the record, the roster, or the situation, Dallas is winning the Super Bowl.
For my first post as the Delusional Dallas Fan, I used the idea: “If I had to wear this every Sunday to win a Super Bowl this season, I would.” I chose it because it instantly shows the extreme confidence and exaggeration that define this persona. It highlights a fan who’s willing to do anything for the Dallas Cowboys and truly believes a Super Bowl is guaranteed every year, which sets the tone for the rest of the account.
For my second post, I used a screenshot of a text conversation where someone asks why they’re not getting proposed to, and the reply is a picture of Dak Prescott, with the joke being that he deserves a ring first. I chose it because it shows how the Delusional Dallas Fan sees every situation as a chance to talk about Dak winning a Super Bowl. This would also be something funny that I would send to my girlfriend.
