How has cybersecurity technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?
Cyber technology has taken major leaps over the years. Attacks have become more sophisticated than ever. Businesses are also using more and more technology. This leads to a higher chance of workplace deviance. With every thing a company deems important at the fingertips of the workers it makes it easy to sabotage a company. In any workplace this can happen. Though for certain businesses it is more likely and some breaches would have a bigger impact. For example a business that involves healthcare would be more susceptible than a shoe company. Hospitals store all kinds of sensitive information. This makes their information more valuable and easy to mishandle. Though deviance is usually deliberate hospitals are susceptible to accidental acts as well. Employees could put the company at risk simply by not following protocol. One mistake and the whole company could be at risk. For example an employee sending patient information via computer. If they send the wrong type of file or send it the wrong way it could be compromised. Even though I stated that a shoe company would be less susceptible, technology has still created ways for data breaches. Example, an employee has a picture of a shoe scheduled to be released in 2021. This employee sent this picture to a friend to share his excitement. The company is now at risk over this simple action. Technology is great when used correctly. There is no great gain without alot of risk.
