About Me

My name is Donta Council. I am a second year doctoral student at Old Dominion University in the School of Public Service majoring in Public Administration and Policy. A few of my goals while in this program are to: gain critical research skills (both quantitative and qualitative) to assess and evaluate emerging concerns in the field, explore both academic and practitioner aspects of the discipline, and ultimately to collaborate with colleagues to not only be a consumer of knowledge, but also a producer.

Some of my professional background includes higher education/student affairs and nonprofit management. I plan to use my practical experiences to both inform my research, but also to bridge gaps in the academy and world of practice.

I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant in the School of Public Service. Several of my tasks are to conduct literature reviews, assist with data collection and analysis, and assist with department programming.
