With all technology comes its pros and cons, the pros of having this advancing technology is that within the workplace things are easier to navigate or do and the cons are people taking advantage of the technological advances. For instance , an app called “Paylocity” which employers use for their employees to clock in and out on and also submit time off requests, and also to see their schedules. With this comes problems simply because now employees aren’t required to be in the building while cloaking in they just have to be within a certain distance of the building for the app to work, so while the people who make it in time and are already ready to work, you have those people who takes advantage of this app and will clock in before walking into the building. If you are to think about it in the way of breaks as well the employee can be outside eating their food and they are able to clock in to work while still outside finishing their food from break. This workplace deviance is called time theft, while this isn’t new it is now easier for this phenomenon to occur with the advancing technology. The use of company computers is a big one, allowing people to use companies technology can also be deviantly used things such as company phones and computers have been used for things other than work for a lot of people they have used company phones for personal usage, downloading different social media apps, calling, texting, and even gaming all on company property. The misuse of company technology can be tracked and seen by the company so although they are using it for personal use now they are being tracked and followed for everything that is done on the technology.
