Week 1

My top three choices for a career in the social sciences would be an Urban planner, Market research analyst, or a Historian. For urban planner, I have always enjoyed creating comforting and naturally flowing spaces that people can enjoy and feel comfortable in. I have a few ideas on how we can help make cities more inviting and bring the appeal of nature in. As a market research analyst, I can really lose myself in numbers and figures, trying to follow any potential trends that could benefit myself or the company I work for. Making spreadsheets that work and filter and organize data is a lot of fun. Finally, for being a historian, learning about the past and reading texts of the greats that came before us is something I can enjoy for many years. Then, being able to help restore or maintain these parts of our past would be even better.

Week 6

How I see it is that since most of us today has grown up with the internet, it has always been there to feed us entertainment, staying connected with friends and family, and providing a service that makes our  lives easier. But what it hasn’t done, yet, is turn on us and steal, swindle, or lie about its intentions. Before we realize something bad has happened the damage is already done. The internet when growing up wasn’t that one painful memory that learned like knowing when pans ae on the stove they’re most likely burnie hot. I think the the development of the human firewall is the most important feature one can have to protect themselves to the maximum effect. It should also be taught sooner, as childhood life lessons stick with us the longest.

Week 15

At first the internet was a academic tool, only used by universities to monitor the coffee kettle to know when to was done. As the vision for the internet grew, its accessibility grew with it expanding into the world market. Business saw this as an opportunity to expand their exposure to more potential costumers and online shopping became more and more prevalent. This also brought out bad actors that have been following this game since the beginning of trade. In the olden days you could go to the wrong stall at the market and buy jewelry that looked like the expensive stuff but it was such a good deal for it to end up being made of cheap material. Or the traveling physicians that sold snake oil to cure everything. Being scammed isn’t new, the rate it is at now online is something to behold.
