The Chief Information Officer (CIO) plays a vital role within the organization. The position requires someone who is very detail-oriented and consistently researching new ways hackers<\/p>\n\n\n\n
could access information. In the 21st century, the CIO is responsible for keeping the organization\u2019s information secure and safe. This role allows the CIO to appoint who they view fit to be a senior agency information security officer. The Chief Information Officer creates and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
maintains the organization\u2019s security policies and procedures. These policies can be safeguards and steps an employee must do before logging on to view sensitive information. An example of this is how Old Dominion students have to permit Duo Lingo before being able to log into their school accounts. This safeguard allows an extra shield of protection from any outsider user trying to access their account. The Chief Information Officer creates and controls techniques that every employee in the organization uses daily. They create a system for their employees to safeguard and protect from any hackers. These safeguards must be constantly resisted and upgraded. This is due to the constant innovation in technologies as well as hackers developing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
new techniques. Of course in an organization, employees who obtain higher positions will have the responsibility and need to maintain a higher security. The CIO is responsible for helping<\/p>\n\n\n\n
these employees maintain this level of security. The responsibility of constant monitoring and reporting of the effectiveness of policies created should be published to higher officials.
