The “Short Arm” of Predictive Knowledge

From this week’s Jonas Reading: How should we approach the development of cyber-policy and infrastructure given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge?

he short arm of predicate knowledge explains how we can try to predict the outcome of things but will end up unsuccessful. Technology is constantly advancing and changing leading us to not be able to assume where things will end up.  Because of this when making policies, we should make them flexible so we can extend them if something were to rapidly change.  Instead of just creating a plan and sticking to that, we must have a plan that is constantly re-evaluated to see if any changes need to be made due to advancements. We should also create different plans for events that may not seem likely currently but could occur later on.
