1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

The electronic storage of other people’s information can be useful for developing a persons identity online and keeping track of information. While it may have pros it can also cause problems for other people, which may comply with ethical issues. First of all the morality of safety should be a given when it comes to ethics and technology. People use the web all of the time to put their identities up for a overall track record of their characteristics and strengths or weaknesses. This can become an issue because some may not be careful about certain information becoming public, which can lead to dangerous actions. Safety is important to any individual, but on the internet it is not looked at as that big of a problem because there is no physical contact. Storing information online can lead to hackers or breaches obtaining and destroying important information. Many people do not understand the issue because it does not seem to apply to them in real life, but eventually it can lead to a lot more destruction than just some files being destroyed. Another ethical issue is trust within a computer device, which is important when it comes to storing information. When information is stored there must be an application or site or file program that processing the information. These applications and programs can be fake or real and sometimes it is hard to determine. This ethical issue is dangerous because the programs that store the information can leak it or become compromised in many ways. These methods of compromisation may lead to bigger problems within your real life or throughout your software. Another ethical issue that may arise is the copying or stealing of files and data. Data is stolen all the time through breaches in systems and can compromise valuable data that you would not want known to the public or any person in general. This is an issue that will ruin the security of files that are not meant to be taken or spread around. The last ethical issue I will discuss is Honesty and software being truthful to the user. There are many types of software that implement lies that get you to download other forms of software. Honesty is hard to come to terms with regarding computer software and it has a effect that can be everlasting on a device or set of data.
