The speaker discusses his pathway into his career as a winding road in my opinion. As he stated that during his time there was no development into the field either threw into it or put into it. I think this is a very telling opportunity into whether the field and career you are choosing is right for you, the notion of dipping a toe into the water does not resonate as much with me as diving in head first. He then continues that he is an accountant by practice but was introduced to IT work because a firm needed help with their networks and even with being an accountant by practice he became more interested with the IT work. This pathway that he chose is another that sets an example that even if you are practiced and experienced in one line of work you can still choose to stray off the paved path as he did. This path off the beaten road led him to the first national digital forensic practice in Australia and he did not hesitate and pursued the career and never looked back. I think the pathway that the speaker took to eventually end up in a career he enjoys and is passionate about is the epitome of what every individual including myself strives to achieve.
